Professional pet grooming equipment is the bedrock of your business! There’s no better business investment, and it’s important to think about long-term value before you buy.

Whether you’re a mobile groomer, house call groomer, pet salon startup, or successful pet grooming franchise, you’ll use these bathing tubs, grooming tables, pet dryers, and styling tools every single day.

First step? Do your research and purchase pet grooming supplies that will last. Ultra-thick ABS plastic, reinforced welding, and 304 stainless steel are unbeatable. With Waggz, it’s always easy to find what you’re looking for.

Then, keep it shiny and new with these simple care and maintenance routines:

Stainless Steel Care and Cleaning

Waggz exclusively uses 304 stainless steel to manufacture our grooming tables and pet tubs. This upgraded, medical-grade steel offers better corrosion-resistance, durability, and strength than most common metals. Plus, 304 stainless steel can withstand hotter temperatures and is less likely to rust.

But will stainless steel grooming tubs rust over time? Yes, rust is natural. Oxygen and moisture exposure can always create rust without proper care.

Luckily, there are several easy ways to keep your stainless steel grooming equipment looking like new. Protect your professional grooming tubs, tables, and arms with a little daily care.

  1.     Rinse Shampoo Residue

Pet shampoos and coat cleansers typically aren’t pH neutral, so the residue can damage stainless steel over long periods of time. Keep the surface clean by gently rinsing your entire tub at the end of every workday. Just one extra minute of cleanup can make a big difference and extend the life of your equipment.

Waggz pet bathing tubs have lift-up, removable steel floor grates, so you can easily reach the bottom of your tub and rinse every corner. We recommend doing your final tub rinse with hot water, which will help dissolve dried or sticky residue even faster.

This applies to the stainless steel arms on your grooming table, too! Over time, spritzes of finishing sprays, pet fragrances, and blown-out shampoo residue can build up on your grooming arms. Simply rinse and wipe it clean for long-lasting shine.

Did you know? Waggz electric grooming tables and tubs have IPX6 waterproof foot pedals and motor casings. This medical-grade waterproofing is designed to withstand direct water spray and splashes, so you can hose down your workspace during deep-cleaning!

  1.     Clean and Dry Equipment

Professional pet groomers know… your equipment takes a beating throughout the day! So much water… so much hair. Waggz grooming tables and tubs are built to impress and ready to work. After a long stretch of dog grooming appointments, full grooms, and de-shedding treatments, it’s time to clean up.

We’ve already discussed the importance of rinsing down your groomer tub and wiping the grooming arms on your table. Drying is the next step.

Many groomers like to blast the tub dry with a pet dryer, then follow up with absorbent towels. Just make sure that you remove towels and wet rags from the tub basin when you’re done. Your stainless steel tub should always be completely dry and empty when you head home for the night.

Then, voila – it’ll be shiny and ready for the next client that walks in your door!

  1.     Use Gentle, Specialty Cleaners

Regular cleaning can improve shine today and protect your grooming equipment tomorrow. You just have to be careful about the cleaning products you choose.

304 stainless steel is an exceptionally durable alloy, but acidic or corrosive chemicals can still damage the finish over time. We do not recommend using bleach (even diluted), citrus-based cleansers, or anti-grease detergents. We’ve noticed that some grooming education blogs recommend daily polishing with lemon oil; however, that’s not our top recommendation.

In the next section, we’ll explain how lemon and other citrus-based cleaners can both help and hurt.

  1.     Shine and Remove Rust

It’s not uncommon to see a few specks of red or a rusty hue creep across your grooming equipment – especially after a long freight shipment or weeks in a very stuffy, humid bathing room.

Luckily, there are several easy ways to restore the shine on your steel grooming tub or table arm. You simply need a very, very gentle acid or mild abrasive cleaner. There are several ‘rust-busting’ products on the market, but a handful of kitchen pantry staples often work just as well.

Citric acid (present in lemons) can dissolve rust and help remove subtle reddening or early signs of tarnish on your stainless steel tubs. However, the acidity will continue to corrode the metal if left over time. Always make sure to rinse and clean the surface with a mild detergent after polishing.

You can also mix one part water with one part white vinegar and rub away the rust stain with a soft cloth. If the rust stain is more extensive, you might try a thick paste of water and baking soda. Gently scrub the problem area with a soft cloth or children’s toothbrush and then rinse it clean to remove lingering residue.

Also, keep in mind that stainless steel has a ‘grain’ like wood. We always recommend buffing and polishing in gentle, circular motions that go ‘with the grain’ of your metal bathing tub.

General Equipment Upkeep

Waggz grooming tables and tubs have medical-grade materials, just like the ones trusted in hospitals. These upgraded components require less upkeep than most grooming products, and we’ve revamped some key features with extra, built-in protection.

For example, our patented push rod lift mechanism is completely sealed with an internal set of smooth-rolling ball bearings. Basic electric grooming tables are usually built with a set of open wheels that roll on a track. Dander, dirt, and hair easily builds up in those rudimentary tracks and causes a stuttering or jolting motion – an absolute no-no for safety.

Instead, Waggz patented lift actually pushes hair and debris out of the way as it slides across the sealed push rod. This makes it easier to sweep and clean up hair at the end of the day. And we can proudly guarantee: the smooth-gliding motion of your Waggz table or tub is backed by a two-year warranty.

You’ll also notice that the medical-grade actuator, motor, and control box are hidden underneath the tabletop – not down on the floor – and all the raceway wiring has a chew-resistant casing. That’s yet another protective perk! Hard-working groomers deserve all the proactive help and support you can get.

When you choose to invest in the best grooming equipment, it’s worth protecting. Waggz makes it easy.
